Without the providence of God we who are children of God would not be justified by Christ, sanctified, and one day glorified. You just have to be patient enough to mine it. And yet, as Flavel articulates, a careful examination of our lives will only reveal God’s merciful providence in ways we could not have expected and did not choose. However – and this will explain my rating – he is quite repetitious.

As with most writings from this time period and genre, the text will hardly honor the reader who assumes that he might flippantly peruse it.
